Nordens Ark - zoo in Sotenäs

Between Lysekil and Kungshamn in Västra Götaland is a zoo whose purpose is to preserve endangered animal species. It also has a farm with ordinary livestock.

Nordens Ark has programs to breed endangered species from around the world. It is run by the Nordens Ark Foundation. Here you get to see around eighty endangered species.

The zoo has a varied selection of mammals, birds, and amphibians. The animals have plenty of space with a design that is adapted to their natural habitat.

There is also a forest where a small herd of wolves can roam freely.

It is exciting to look for the wolf, but you may want to be at the feeding place at the time the animals are fed if you want to be sure to see it.

There are separate sections for amphibians, reptiles, and birds.

The peregrine falcon (pictured below) is considered the world's most widespread bird of prey.

The place has picnic areas where you can sit down and enjoy brought food, but also has a restaurant and hotel.

Nordens Ark conducts information, training, and education. As part of this, you can measure how strong you are and how fast you can run compared to other animals.

If you have small children, you can rent a trolley to drive them and your luggage in.

For the small children, it is even more exciting with the farm where they can get in close contact with ordinary farm animals.

There is also a children's playground.
