Kungsvik by Lökholmen in Strømstad - idyllic traces of costal culture - hike along beaches

Updated: Aug 31

A few kilometers north of Strømstad is an area with shallow sandy beaches and smooth rocks. To the west there is a small ferry port with some piers and boathouses where it is easy to find photo motifs.

Further west, there are nice bathing spots with smooth-cut boulders and a small sandy beach.

On the east side there is a campsite and a wide child-friendly sandy beach with shallow water.

Continuing along this shoreline you will come to a beautiful plain area with nice little beaches interrupted by boulders.

The view to the fjord and the islands is beautiful both during the day and in the evening.

This week's excursion: Kungbäcka by Lökholmen in Strömstad municipality - traces of costal culture - hike along beaches

Nearby excursions: Trips to Sweden's westernmost point also start at the car park in Kungbäcka. Read more https://www.turideer.com/post/stensvik-sveriges-vestligste-punkt .

Duration: This is a place to go for a nice walk or spend the whole day on the beach. The trip itself is about 2 kilometers in total.

Get there: Follow the E6 from Strömstad towards the Norwegian border. Take the exit at Hogdal (also signposted to Norby shopping center and Dyne golf club). Follow the old E6 past Hogdal church and on to the next exit which is signposted to Lökholmen. Follow the road towards Lökholmen almost to the end of the road. Turn right towards Kungbäcka about 1 kilometer before Løkholmen. Follow the road until you reach the sea. At the bottom towards the beach there is a parking space in the extension of the campsite on the right side. There you can park for 20 kroner per day (put in an envelope in the mailbox). There are also some parking spaces further ahead towards the harbor, but they are reserved for boat owners.
