In 2023, Norway's first treetop path opened in Hamaren activity park in Fyresdal. It is a 2-meter-wide wooden footbridge on stilts that is fifteen meters above the ground at its highest point. It is 1 km long and has a steady climb to the top of Klokkarhamaren (343 meters above sea level) where there is a circular loop forty-five meters in diameter with views of Vikefjell and Fyresvatn. The route is universally designed.

The Tretoppvegen was designed by the Danish architectural firm EFFEKT. It is designed to give everyone the opportunity to get out for a walk. It is easy to use strollers and wheelchairs. Once you have reached the top, you can walk back the same way or follow a gravel road through the forest back down, making it a round trip.

Hamaren Activity Park contains hiking trails, bike paths and various activities for children and adults. Cycling is allowed on the bike paths and gravel roads, but not the treetop path. The bike paths are one-way so that you avoid meeting anyone. There are two routes with various levels of difficulty. Children can climb the climbing frames and the stainless-steel sculptures. There are benches in several places where you can rest or take a lunch break.

If you want to take a walk in the forest without climbing, you can follow the red line on the map above. It is a route of approx. 3.5 km. If you also want to take in the Tretoppveien, you can take a detour on it and walk the gravel road back down to get back to the hiking trail and continue the round trip. There is both an outdoor kitchen and a campfire site that make it easy to prepare food. In 2021, the area got a 5x5 meter treetop trampoline that you must climb three meters up a rope ladder to reach. In the trampoline you can jump, lie on your back, and look up at the treetops or spend the night.
