At the entrance to Alicante from the west along the coast is an elongated park with over 2,000 palm trees. Here you can walk, run or play or just relax on a bench in the shade of a palm tree. There are hiking trails under the shade of palm leaves, open spaces with exercise equipment, bridges over rivers, artificial waterfalls and small idyllic lakes. All on a strip that is 320 meters long and 40 meters wide.
The park is the remains of La Finca El Carmen, which in its time had over 7,000 palm trees on a much larger area. The farm was bought in 1944 by Alicante municipality, which eventually used most of the site for industrial construction. Fortunately, a good solution has been achieved for the small strip that has been preserved along the coast. Here there is a lot to see and experience for the whole family in a small area.
There are hiking trails around the area so that you can easily get to artificially created small "lakes", rivers and waterfalls. There is a cafeteria - El Palmeral - which has ice cream, drinks and simple food. The park also has its own skateboard track.
