Calpe - from Cala Caleta to Cala Advocat

The coast northeast of the Calpe cliff is wild, beautiful and accessible. You don't get the long, soft, sandy beaches, but instead you can enjoy small coves and bays, some with sand, others with stones and gravel. There are three restaurants you can visit. A nice two hours trip.

Startpunktet for turen på parkeringsplassen i La Caletea med Calpeklippen i bakgrunnen

The trip starts right next to the Calpe cliff in the bay called Cala Caleta (or Cala de la Calalga). In the picture above you will see the parking lot at the right hand side and the Calpe cliff in the background.

From the parking area, follow the road along the northeast coast (go left facing the sea) a few hundred meters until you reach Urbanizacion Los Pinos Capesa. There you turn right. Then just follow the path. It goes with a few exceptions along the beach.

The first opportunity for refreshments comes after a quarter of an hours walk. Restaurant Coral Beach offers food, drinks and toilets, as well as training in diving and sailing and surfing. You can get a table close to the sea where the view is like in the picture below. The picture above shows the descent to the restaurant area.

The trail slopes along the edges of the cliff and goes up and down with great variety.

The sedond restaurant you'll meet is only 15-20 minutes away, the Mandala Beach Bar and Restaurant in Cala Fustera. Its' got a nice sandy beach too.

Along the way you can stop and watch local art. Just after Cala Fustera, you have to follow a roadway for a while and the trail leads you a bit away from the beach. The end of the trip is Cala Advocat. There you will find a nice restaurant with tasty food. An appropriate place for lunch/dinner before you return.

The excursion of the week: A walk along the beach east of the Calpe cliff from Cala Caleta (Calpe) to Cala Advocat (Benissa).

Difficulty: Easy. Suitable for everyone, including young children.

Duration: 5 kilometers each way - about 1 hour walk each way.

Getting there: From Alicante you'll take the AP7 to Altea. From Altea follow N-332 towards Benissa. Take off the first exit to Calpe. Turn left (straight ahead) at the first roundabout. Continue straight through several roundabouts until you pass the Calpe cliff on your right hand. The road is first called Avenida Diputacion and then Avenida de los Ejércitos Españoles and then Avenida Juan Carlos. When you see a roundabout with a large Mercadon store on the left and a Consum store on the right, turn right. Then you arrive either at Carrer Mestral or Avenida Rosa de los Vientos, which both lead to the sea where there is a car park. You are now at Cala Caleta or Cala de Calalga. Park in the parking lot. Walk the road towards east. Follow the instructions on the images at the top.

Task: Can you find this place?
